ITALIAN BOMBER CRASHES
PILOT LANDS SAFELY BY PARACHUTE ROME, November 11. Nine deaths resulted from the crash of a bombing aeroplane in the Lepini Mountains. Four of the crew of six were killed instantly. The pilot, Captain Bernini, jumped out before the crash, and landed by means of a parachute. He was unhurt. The wireless officer, who landed the aeroplane, was injured. Five villagers were fatally burned and others were severely injured when the petrol tanks exploded during the rescue work. ENGL'ISH CRICKETERS IN SYDNEY ♦ WELCOME BY PREMIER (Received November 12, 9.27 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 12. The English cricketers arrived in Sydney in bright sunshine. All the members of the team are glad to have left the bad weather behind, G. O. Allen, the captain, said: “I realise that we have not made a good start. Nevertheless, we will try from now on to give you the type of cricket you want. I expect that all our injured players will be fit in a week or two.” The team was cordially welcomed by the Premier, Mr B. S. B. Stevens, and officials of the Board of Control of the New South Wales Cricket Association. They also attended a civic reception. Allen announced to-day that he had appointed R. W. V. Robins, R. SS. Wyatt, W. R. Hammond and . Leyland as an advisory committee to assist him to select the test teams, ENGLISH TEAM TO PLAY NEW SOUTH WALES (Received November 13, 12.14 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 11. The Marylebone Cricket Club team for the match against New South Wales, opening to-morrow, is; —G. O. Allen, W. R, Hammond, T. S. Worthington, J. M. Sims, J. Hardstaff, L. E. G. Ames, C. J. Barnett, A. H. Fagg, L. B. Fishlock, W. Copson, and M. Leyland.
