CRICKET

CAPTAIN OF CANTERBURY TEAM I. B. CKOMB ELECTED AGAIN I. B. Cromb, of Lancaster Park, will bj captain of the Canterbury representative cricket team for the 1936-37 season. This decision was made at a committee meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association. This will be Cromb’s second term as captain oL the province in Plunket Shield matches; last year he was elected captain for the first time. In that time his management of the team on the field marked him as one whose cricketing experience had fitted him well for the position. The team had fair success; and much of it could be put down to wise declarations made b, Cromb, and on the other hand, to the way he used his bowlers. In local cricket, Cromb is prominent as captain of the Lancaster Park Club. His ability as a captain was perhaps brought most forcefully into notice in the 1934-35 season; he captained the South Island team then, when it beat the North Island at Wellington.
