“THE PRESS” SICK FUND

ANNUAL MEETING

The fifty-third annual meeting of ‘The Press” Sick Fund was held yesterday, JVh* A. M. Bums, manager of the Christchurch Pi;ess Company, Ltd., presiding. The report of the committee, which was adopted, stated that there had been more sickness than usual, the expenditure having been £126 14s 6d among nine members. For the previous year £3O 16s 8d had been paid to seven members. The fund this year comprised 71 A division and seven B division members.

It was with regret the committee recorded the death in May last of Mr R. J/Hurst, for many years a member of the fund.

Mr A. M. Burns was re-elected president, Mr D. B. Halliday was reelected secretary-treasurer, and the following members were appointed the committee for the following year:— Mr R, E. Gillespie (literary department), Mr R. Maynard (process department), Mr G. H. Mann (engineering department), Mr D. Short (news and stereotype department), Mr R. Hindenach (rotary department), Mr J. Vivian (publishing department).
