EMBROIDERY
A zigzag pattern for covering in large spaces on canvas is shown
here. It is very easy to do. Work the wide zigzag stripes in slanting stitches over six threads and the narrow ones over two threads. The work is particularly effective done in two tones, light for the Wide stripes, dark for the narrow ones, or v' contrasting colours. A second stikUt with a similar effect is

done in flat stitches lor the wide stripes, and tent stitch or petit point for the narrow stripes. The wide stripes cover first two threads and then six, and the tent stitch is made over the intersection or corner made by one horizontal and one perpendicular thread and along under two perpendicular threads and one horizontal one for the
next dark stripes first—each zlg is five stitches and each sag five, ■__ . ■
