THE THREE MERRY MILLERS

Pipplekin and Pansy and little Popplewill Were three merry millers who lived in a mill, Pipplekin was oldest (he was nearly forty-three!) Pansy was middlin’, and Popplewill was wee.

One day they were walking on a road up a hill; (Pipplekin and Pansy, and little Popplewill), V Pipplekin was leading (he walked very fast). Pansy was middlin’, and Popplewill was last.

On the top of the hill lived a Big Black Bear With a Big, Big Mouth and Long Black Hair, And he saw the merry millers walking up the hill (Pipplekin and Pansy and little Popplewill). '

And he lay down flat and grinned a great grin At Popplewill and Pansy and big Pipplekin, And when they were near he jumped out—Pop! And laughed “Aha” and shouted “Stop!”

And he ate up the biggest, which was big Pipplekin, And he ate up Pansy, who was just middlin’ But he didn’t eat Popplewill (he was very, vei’y wee) Who jumped in his ear to pretepd he was x flea.. Thenthe Bear Ipoked here, and ■- th® Bear looked there, X thought there was; another," v growled. the Big Black Bear, Then he gave up looking fthd : sat on the hill (And sitting in h!a ear Was little Popplewill).

And presently there’s tickling, like a flea in his ear, And presently there’s rumbling, so he can’t quite hear, {vnd presently there’s thundering, a terrible row, And the Bear howled “Helpl” and the Bear cried “Wow!”

And he ran round and fell off the hill (With Pipplekln and little Popple will) . -ijgF ' He fell ■ right down . on top <g.Sßp» And when he stopped r ® Bear was dead. ' ■' Then out popped PctP&BB cut off his head (It didn’t really Bear was dead) .
