The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister for Railways and Industries and Commerce, will re- , turn to Wellington this evening. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, leader of the Opposition, returned on Saturday from the north. v Mr R, H. Parton arrived from Wellington by the inter-island steamer on Sunday morning. Mr J. H. Rhodes returned by the Rangatira on Saturday from the north. The Hon. Sir James Allen, the Hon. J. A. McCullough, the Hon. F. Waite, and the Hon. D. Buddo, members of the Legislative Council, were passengers by .the Rangatira from Wellington on -Saturday. The following members of Parliament returned from Wellington on Saturday: Messrs E. J. Howard, W. A. Bodkin, J. A. Roy, T. H. McCombs, H. E. Herring, A. Campbell, H. S. S. Kyle, P. E. Neilson, and Dr. D. G. McMillan. Dean Cruikshank, of .Dunedin, returned from the north by the Rangatira on Saturday Mr W. Easton (Dunedin), Mr C. Stanley Smith (Dunedin), and Mr A. M. Burns (Christchurch) left on Saturday night to attend a conference with representatives of the New Zealand Journalists 1 Association on the subject of a new award. Mr H. F. O'Leary, K.C., of Wellington, is visiting Christchurch. Mr W. A. lorns, of Martinborough, formerly chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, who has been on a visit to England, arrived at Lyttelton by the Wairangi yesterday. He will leave for the north to-night. Mr D. J.. Cummings, Commissioner of Police, who has been on an official visit, will leave by the express this morning for the south. On the occasion of his marriage, Mr J. M. Ritchie, of the Canterbury branch of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., was presented with a case of cutlery. The presentation was made by the manager, Mr W. C. Brydon, who conveyed to Mr Ritchie the best wishes ; of the staff for. his future happiness, . Mr A. H. Wright, who retired from the position of Commissioner-of Police in 1926, returned to New Zealand yesterday after a holiday in England. He arrived at Lyttelton by the Wai,rangi. He was accompanied on his trip by Mrs Wright and his daughter, Mrs E. Evans. Mr D. I. Macdonald, secretary of the Canterbury Employers’ Association, returned from Wellington yesterday after acting as employers’ advocate m the Dominion local bodies’ drivers’ dispute in Conciliation Council. He left by railcar early this morning for Greymouth to attend a sitting of the Arbitration Court on Tuesday, when the Westland timber workers’ and gold dredgers 1 dispute will be heard.
