OPENING OF SEASON CLUB PLAYERS PRACTISE IN SUMMER WEATHER Appropriate weather favoured the opening of the cricket season on Saturday, when clubs under the control of both the Canterbury Cricket Association and the Christchurch Suburban Association held their first serious practices of the season in preparation for the beginning of competition play this week. Although the sky was lightly clouded there was a warm nor’west breeze, and the parks and reserves of the city, resplendent in their new spring green, were a sight to gladden the hearts of cricketers. Club captains were busy taking stock of their new season’s material, and m many cases they found themselves with teams differing considerably from those that represented the respective clubs last season* Changes in the personnel of the senior sides have already been reviewed in detail. Practically all the senior cricketers of the province were at the nets on Saturday afternoon. ; . .
