Lewey, SM.> NAMES SUPPRESSED Two young men whose names were ordered to. be suppressed, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a radio set and accessories, the property -of Charles Begg and Company, Chief-Detective W. H. Dunlop said the goods were taken'from a salesman s car about s.3o'pan. on Thursday. The inen were seen and followed, and the goods were recovered intact. Both told the police they had had too much liquor. Mr D. W. Russell, for the accused, said neither man had been in court for dishonesty before, and asked for suppression of the names. _ Both men were fined £5, with 20 days’ imprisonment as the penalty for default. Their names were ordered not to be published. DRUNKENNESS William Thomas Henry Flower Newell was convicted and fined 20s, in default* seven days’ imprisonment, on a charge of drunkenness. ■ Sub-Inspector D. A. Mac Lean said that this was Newell’s sixty-third appearance ih this court. REMANDED Edward James Steward, aged 19, was, remanded until-October 6 on a charge of stealing a quantity of lead valued at £6, the property of Chastin and Mantell, Ltd. Bail of £SO was allowed, with one surety of £SO, with a condition the accused report daily to the police. Chief-Detective Dunlop said that another charge against Steward was pending, TRAFFIC CHARGES Offenders against traffic regulations were fined as follows (and ordered to pay costs unless otherwise stated):— Failing to notify change of ownership of a motor-cycle—Cyril Ramsay Gordon, 10s. , . , Failing to give way—Frederick William Butcher, 20s; David Dore, 10s (failing to report accident, costs only); Hyla William Hoar, 20s. Motor-car without sufficient lights— Clifford Courtney. 20s; Alfred Storer Geddes, 20s. Riding a motor-cycle on footpath— Robert James Frizzell, 20s (no driver’s license 10s). Motor-car without tail light—Edward Hindmarsh Garrick, 10s. Cycling at night without light— George Vivian Marsh, costs only.
