VICTIM OF ATTACK BY NEW GUINEA NATIVES (Received October 1, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 1. Advice has been received from Salamaua, New Guinea, that Mr Nurton, the Assistant District Officer who with other members of a patrol in the Rai Coast area was attacked by natives and wounded, has had a leg amputated.
