SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Dr. and Mrs Russell Ritchie, Miss Joan Ritchie (Dunedin), Mr J. Ritchie suad Dr. t. Maling (Christchurch) will arrive on Monday to attend the Ritchie-Orbell wedding, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Mr and Mirs David McLeod (Cass) and‘Miss Elizabeth Ritchie (Dunedin; will be- guests of Mrs C. L. Or bell (Pentlow) for the Ritchie-Orbell wedding. ■ , ' Miss June Wright (Christchurch), Who was the-guest of Mrs Stone-Wig*; (Winchester), is how staying with Miss Marion Hay, Wai-iti road. Mrs E. Bowler ahd Miss Marjorie Bowler, Wai-iti road, have returned froth a visit to Dunedin. Mrs H. Holdgate and Miss Audrey Holdgate, Bidwill street, have returned from a visit to Duhedin. Mrs C. A. Selfe, accompanied by Miss Irene Henderson,, Aynsley street, returned yesterday to Christchurch. Mrs .Neil Alexander, Avenue road, has returned from a visit to Roxburgh. Mrs Wolsey Kain (Otago Central) will be the guest of Mrs W. T. Ritchie (Te Tawa). HAWARDEN TENNIS CLUB’S ANNUAL BALL The annual ball of the Hawarden Tennis Club was held in the Hawarden HaU, wheie 130 couples were present, including many visitors from Christchurch, Rangiora, Amberley, Culverden, and surrounding districts. The main h«|ll was tastefully decorated with pink and red roses and trails,of greenery entwined in lattice work. Trailers of coloured lights interwoven with the flowers and at the bases of large sprays had. a very pleasing effect. A very dainty supper was served by Josephines and their staff in the supper room, which was decorated in keeping with the hall. Music for the dancing was supplied by the Herdman-Flsk Orchestra, and extras were played by Mesdatnes A. Cowle, R. Galletly, Messrs C. Brooker and B. Begg. Novelty dances were won by Mr and Mrs R. E. Foster (Monte Carlo) and Miss Margaret Leary and Mr N. May (lucky spot waltz). An exhibition tap dance was given by Mr T. Keetley and Miss Askew. A flashlight photograph of the dancers was taken during the evening. Those present were Mr and Mrs, G. L. Rutherford, Mr and Mrs R. E. Foster, Mr and Mrs G. D. Scott. Mr and Mrs G. R. B.
