RECORD COLLECTION OF ' SEASON , ' . The most successful of the community sieging fixtures in aid of the Mayor’s Relief of Distress Fund this season, was that held in the Civic Theatre yesterday, the amount collected— £BO 16s 2d—beihg the largest of the season. Yesterday was “Irish Day, the support given to it being a little more enthusiastic than that given to “Scottish Day” recently, when £74 was collected, this sum being, till yesterday, the record for the season. The song leader was Mr W. McNair, the pianist Mr F. L. Squire, and the organist Mrs Warrilow, Mr John Poulter sang “Tire Londonderry Air,” Miss Thelma Cusack playing a violin obbligato. An Irish jig was danced by Miss Heather McLachlan. A cocker

spaniel pup was sold for £4 12s fid, many bids being received by telephone.' One bid came from Gisborne by telegtam.
