REAL ESTATE INSTITUTE
CANTERBURY-WESTLAND BRANCH MEETS “A very eventful year” was reviewed at the annual meeting of the Canter-bury-Westland branch of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand last night. Mr H. M. Hunter presided. One of the notable features of the year was the very definite improvement in the major business activities, the annual report stated. House-build-ing permits exceeded those of any recent previous year by a substantial number, all suburbs participating in the revival. Three new members of the branch were elected during the year and two resigned through having ceased business. The financial position showed improvement, the debit balance being reduced from about £2O to a credit balance of £1 18s. The year was singularly free from disputes among members and between members and the public, only three or four cases of minor importance being investigated. The following officers were elected: President, Mr H. M. Hunter; committee, Messrs O. F. Baker, H. T. Penrose, G. J. Leech, H. W. Heslop, S. W. Binns, F. W. White, C. E. Hay. N. H. McCrostie, A. L. Jones, and N. Farrant
