REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS PRACTISE POOR EXHIBITION GIVEN The Canterbury Hockey Association’s senior and junior competitions are over, and on Saturday a practice match between the Association’s representative teams was played at Hegley Park, as well as two trial games in the junior grade. In the senior grade the team selected to play Auckland for the shield drew with a second eleven that has been selected to play Southland at Invercargill at the end of the month. N. Bowden and D. McCormick were unavailable for the first team, their places being taken by E. RadCliffe and R. Meynell. . .. . The game was a poor exhibition of hockey, there being a lack of combination and understanding. The second team scored first, when C. Cornish netted cleverly with a backhand shot. Soon after Barnhill, the second team’s goalkeeper, had a penalty bully awarded against him which was won by C. Wright. At halftime the sSore was one goal each. In the second spell T. Burtt went to tight wing and RSdcliffe to right half. There was little first-class hockey, the forwards lacking comblnatioft. and there was no further score. Messrs R. H. Thomson and N. Pinder (Notth Otago) were the referees. Lower Grades Third Grade A—Trinity 5, Sydenham 2; Technical A 4, Redcllffs 3. .
