i The Blenheim branch of the Nelson College Old Girls’ Association held an enjoyable party at the home of Mrs A. J. Mills (Grovetown). Musical items were given by Misses C. Mills, M. Allsop, and B. Baigent. Those present were Mesdames W. Priddle (president), A. Mil grew, Bartlett, A. E. Brocket!, Reynolds, J. Clunies-Ross, F. Mogridge, J. Stinear, Misses C. and E. Mills, M. Allsop, J. Eckford, P. Furness, F. Gane, G. Kennington, B. Baigent, M. Mosley, K. Organ, J. Granville, and L>. Rose. Mrs L. L. T, Bush (Medway Hills) entertained some of her friends at an enjoyable bridge party held at the Marlborough Women’s Club. The prize was won by Mrs T. Renwick. Those present were Mesdames C. G. Teschemaker, T. S. Maskew, T. Renwick, A. J. Maclaine, L, Simson (Wellington), A. A. Edwards. J. J. McLeod, G. M. Spence, W. T. Churchward, J. H. Wadworth, W. K. Gill, L. C. Chaytor, and B. Clouston, Mrs W. T. Churchward is visiting Christchurch. Mrs C. Moffett (Picton), who has , been staying with Mrs A. M. Adams ; (Langley Dale), has returned home. -■t i FAREWELL PARTIES ; Before leaving for Nelson, where her marriage will take place shortly, Miss Eulalie Moore was entertained at several farewell parties. Miss Moore was hostess at a picture | party at the Regent Theatre, and later the guests went on to a combined sup-' per and gift party, where the joint hostesses were Miss Vercoe and Miss McLeod. A number of useful gifts were received by the guest of honour for her new home.

Those present were Miss E. Moore, Mr and Mrs F. C. Clemens, Mr and Mrs Ivan Parsons, Misses Florence Vercoe, Jean McLeod, Zena Grenfell. Gwen Andrews, Edna Grenfell, Messrs J. Stevens, J. Grigor, J. Lloyd, A. Bond, M. Lawson, and V. Mean. Another party in honour of Miss Moore was that given by her aunt, Mrs G. E. Hattan, at her home in Hamilton avenue. Miss M. B. Moore assisted the hostess.

Those invited included Mesdames A. S. Mazey, F. Clemens, J. F. Justice, Misses Kynock, M. B. Moore, Eulalie Moore, Florence Vercoe, Edna Grenfell, Gwen Andrews, Eleanor Price, Jean McLeod, Zena Grenfell, Mollie Wilson, Betty Orbell, Joan Mulcock, and Marie Lamb.

Mr and Mrs F. Clemens were hosts at a party held at their home in Courtney street, when guests had the opportunity of meeting Mr Ferris Prowse (Wellington). Musical items were given by Messrs Hean and Clemens. Those present included Mrs Clemens, Misses Eulalie Moore, Florence Vercoe Joan Mulcock, Jean McLeod, Zena Grenfell, Messrs Ferris Prowse, V. R J. Hean, John Grigor, Joe Stevens, Jack Savage, and John B. Ensor. GOLF CLUB’S BALL There was a large attendance at the Malvern Golf Club’s ball, which was held in the Darfield Memorial Hall. The supper arrangements were in charge of Miss D. Judd (convener), Mesdames H. S. Guns l , J. Reid. Misses H. E. Cullen, G. Dysart, and J. Webb.

Music for dancing was provided by the Evans-Campbell dance band, and extras by Mrs D. E. Flanagan and Mr L. Westwood. Messrs D. M. Adams and L. Register were masters of ceremonies.

During the evening opportunity was taken to say good-bye to Mr and Mrs J. D. Tooms, members of the club, who will leave shortly to live in England. Mr D. Deans (patron) made a presentation to Mr and Mrs Tooms.

CHRISTCHURCH BRIDE SPEECHLESS ON WEDDING

Great consternation reigned in the household of a Christchurch girl on the morning of her wedding day. She had retired the night before feeling Quite fit, but in the morning she woice and discovered that she had lost the use of her voice.
