FOREIGN PRIVILEGES IN EGYPT
CONFERENCE TO CONSIDER
ABOLITION
(Received August 13, 5.5 p.m.)
LONDON, August 12.
The Cairo correspondent of “The Times” corrects a previous impression that Britain had agreed to the immediate abolition of capitulations. Instead, these will be reviewed at an international conference which Egypt is summoning at the end of the year, when Britain will morally support the eventual abolition of mixed courts as well as fiscal and legislative capitulations.
The Prime Minister (Nahas Pasha) has already pledged that there should be no discrimination against foreigners.
EGYPTIAN TREATY TO BE SIGNED IN LONDON
ALEXANDRIA, August 12.
The remaining clauses of the treaty between Britain and Egypt were initialled at a plenary meeting. Both delegations are very satisfied.
The Prime Minister (Nahas Pasha) has accepted the invitation of Britain to sign the treaty in London, whence he and the Egyptian delegation will shortly depart. The British High Commissioner (Sir Miles Lampson) will go to London for a similar purpose.
