THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL
The Governor-General, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway visited Mr Edgar Stead at “Ham,” Riccarton, yesterday. Afterwards their Excellencies attended the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting at Riccarton. In the late afternoon his Excellency made a brief call at the Officers' Club; and Lady Galway was the guest of the Queen’s Club. Last night the Vice-Regal party attended the Christchurch Male Voice Choir’s concert.
This morning at 10 o’clock his Excellency will visit the Young Men’s Christian Association. He will be received by the president (Mr D. E. Parton) and directors of the association, and will visit the Boys’ Employment Bureau and inspect the rest of the building. ,Lady Galway is to be met at 9.45 o’clock by the Mayor (Mr J. W. Beanland) and Mrs Beanland, who will accompany her on inspections of St. Saviour’s Orphanage, the Methodist Orphanage, Papanui, and St, Joseph’s Orphanage, Mount Magdala.
In the afternoon their Excellencies are to play golf at the Christchurch Club’s course at Shirley. The Vice-Regal party will leave for the north to-night.
