Dagliesh was hostess at a morning tea party in honour of Mrs Ivan Miller, who is a visitor to Christchurch for tie races. Others present were Mesdarhes Barlow, Field, Watson, Misses Colbert and Bryce. Mrs T. B. Bennett (“Homeview,” Cheviot), who was staying at the New City Hotel, returned to Cheviot last evening. Mrs Cyril Williams (Hawke’s Bay), who has been visiting Lady Wigram, Park terrace, has returned home. ! Mrs Russell Grace (Wanganui) is visiting her brother, Mr Edgar Stead, Ham, Riccarton, Mrs Rittson-Thomas (Marlborough), who is visiting Christchurch, will return home on Sunday. ' Mrs T. AFTERNOON PARTY To honour Miss Mavis Mulcock, whose marriage Will take place this month, Mrs R. G. M. Dart and her sistc Miss Patricia White, were hostesses at an enjoyable afternoon tea party held in Death’s tearooms yesterday. On arrival, the guest of hondur was presented by Mrs A- R- C. White with a posy of violets and ifeesias. Competitions were enjoyed, the Wihhers being Miss Mavis Mulcock and Miss Aileen Thompson. Each guest brought a dainty coathanger for Miss Mulcock, Those present were Mesdames R. G. M. Dart, A. R. c. White, Misses M. Mulcock, P. White, Mary Morten, Moliy Dart, Aileen and ‘ Betty Thompson, Peggy Whight,. Ruth Mulcock, and Margaret Kestbven. MUSICALE Mrs T. D. Kendall was responsible for organising one of the informal musical entertainments held in the reception room of the Canterbury Women’s Club yesterday afternoon. The rooms Were effectively decorated with large sprays of autumn berries, pussy willow, and vases of Iceland poppies. The programme included the following items: Pianoforte duets, Mrs Kendall and Miss Vivienne Kendall; songs, Mrs Gordon Morrow; pianoforte solos, Mrs T, D. Kendall and .Miss Vivienne Kendall; songs, Mrs John Poulter; violin solos, Miss Thelma CUsack. The accompanists were Mrs F. E. Reeve and Mrs F. W. Simpson. Dr. Jessie Scott,, president of the club, thanked Mrs! Kendall for the great pleasure given by the performers. WOMEN’S CLUB A description of many of the places she had visited while in Germany Was given by Dr. Helen Simpson to an appreciative audience at the Canterbury Women’s Club last night -■ ■ Vases of Iceland poppies and red and blue anemones had been artistically arranged in the reception room, and a large number of members and their friend? were present. The excellent musical programme included a group of German songs sung by Miss Grace Wilkinson, and pianoforte solos played by Miss Alison Allsop, Mr Noel Newson Was the accompanist. Dr, Jessie Scott thanked Dr. Simpson and the artists for the pleasure they had given.
