REQUEST FOR MAORI JURY REFUSED
TRIAL OP NATIVE ON SERIOUS CHARGE (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) GISBORNE. August 11. The application for an all-Maori jury in the case in which Tahiti Toki wa a charged with indecent assault on a young girl, was refused by Mr Justice Blair, in the Supreme Court to-day. The Crown objected to the application on the ground that the girl Was not a Maori according to the apt. The judge said that although he had tried many cases in which Maoris were Involved, he had never had such a request before.
