WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION

HAREWOOD BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Harewood branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Highsted Road Mission Hall, in the absence of the president, Mrs A. C. Orchard presided. One new member was welcomed. It was reported that during the month two wool quilts had been made by members to be given to needy families.GREENPARK A pleasant afternoon party marked the first birthday of the Greenpark Women’s Division of the Farmers Union/ There were present as guests members of the Motukarara and Tai Tapu branches, also the Springston Women’s Institute. Items were contributed by Mesdames R. Maclachlan, A. Mcßean, L R. Duh'eu and Misses W. Withell and Ruth Maclachlan. Miss With ell played the' accompaniments. Competitions were won by Mrs T. Simmons and Miss R. Maclachlan. The birthday cake, made by Mrs L. R. Dulieu, and iced by Miss Rene Dulieu, was cut by Mrs H. A. Nutt, a Dominion vice-president, after Mrs K. Maclachlan (Tai Tapu) had lit the candle. FOOTBALL CLUB’S BALL On the occasion of its annual ball the Dunsandel Football Club entertained a large number of guests, including many visitors from other districts. The function was one of the most successful held by the club for some years. Excellent arrangements were made by a committee with Mr K. W. Macpherson as president and Mr A. S. Walker as secretary. The hall was decorated with streamers and greenery, and music was supplied by the Evans-Campbell orchestra, Mr B. D. Watson assisting with extras. Messrs W. v. Chatterton and L. H. Johnson were masters of ceremonies. Prizes for novelty 'dances were won by Miss H. and Mr w. T. Chappell, and Mrs J. J. Allan and Mr McLaughlin.
