AMAZING SCENES AT FOOTBALL MATCH AUSTRIAN PLAYERS ATTACKED BY PERUVIAN SPECTATORS •'UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COi'IEiCiIT. (Received August 10, 10.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 10. The Berlin correspondent of the ‘‘Daily Sketch” says the International Football Federation is secretly investigating amazing scenes in the Association football match between Austria and Peru. After a Peruvian defender, ignoring the ball and kicking an opponent, who went off but returned, the i Peruvians declared that another player had been sent on as a substitute. They assembled in midfield, shouting and gesticulating. Dr. Bauwens, a German referee, went on to the field and attempted to smooth over matters.
A thousand Peruvian spectators, shrieking and waving flags, leaped over the barriers and rushed on to the field. They kicked and punched the Austrian players. A Peruvian I ,t his hand in his hip-pocket, apparently to draw a revolver, but F . Bauwens seized and overpowered him.
Some of the delegates to the federation demand that the Peruvians be suspended and asked to leave Germany.
