COLONEL F. SYMON HONOURED

♦ PRESENTATION OF SALVER A .presentation to Colonel F. Symon, C.8., C.M.G., D.5.0., was made at a gathering on Saturday night of officers who served in the New Zealand Artillery in the war. Captain F. F. Reid presented the colonel with an inscribed silver salver. Mention was made of Colonel Symon’s services to the defence forces of New Zealand, particularly to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Captain Reid recalled that the colonel had joined the Royal New Zealand Artillery as a cadet 38 years ago. He had commanded one of the New Zealand Field Artillery Brigades in the war. Before his retirement recently he had been director of artillery in New Zealand. With the presentation, said the captain, were the best wishes ,of those. present. Colonel Symon replied. Other speakers were Colonel N. S. Fa'la, and Mr P. B. Cooke (Wellington).
