In a professional wrestling contest Lofty (New Zealand), 16st 61b, beat Joe Woods (America), ISst 41b. Woods obtained the first fall in the fourth round, picking the New Zealander up for a slam and a body press. The match ended in the seventh round when Blomfleld caught his opponent in an octopus clamp. Woods resisted for some time before submitting and he was unable to resume when the next gong sounded. SPECTACULAR MATCH AT GREYMOUTH

GREYMOUTH, August 9.
In one of the most spectacular wrestling matches seen at Greymouth Paul Boesch beat '‘Cowboy” Russell last night by two fails to one. Boesch was awarded a penalty fall after Russell persistently applied strangleholds and refused to break them when ordered to do so by the referee. The bout, which finished in the sixth round, was full of thrills. The crowd voiced its disapproval of the illegal tactics used by Russell, such as pulling Boesch’s hair and biting him. Both mixed it freely in a variety of holds and provided plenty of amusement with roughhouse tactics. Bussell secured a fall with a body press in the fourth round following a succession of headlocks, elbow Jolts, and dumps.' After a series of spectacular drop-kicks by Boesch. Russell was pinned to the mat with a wristlock and a body press in the fifth round. In the sixth round Russell threw Boesch with several strangleholds. When Russell refused to observe the referee’s warning, Boesch was awarded a penalty fall. The amateur preliminaries resulted as follows:—G. Geddes lost to F. Mantann on points, J. Blanchfleld beat P. Peters on points, E. Hatton beat J. Quinlan by one fall. M , CREADY AND KRUSE DRAW (PBES3 A.BSOCIA.TIOJI TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, August 9. In a willing encounter, Earl McCready and Bob Kruse wrestled a draw here on Saturday night. Kruse secured a fall in the fifth round and McCready equalised in the seventh. M’CREADY and dusek to meet
The Canterbury Wrestling Association has received record bookings for the bout to-morrow night between Earl McCready, British Empire champion, and Danny Dusek, of the "Riot Squad." This will be the first time Dusek has been seen in Christchurch, and the match at the Theatre Royal should .provide eight rounds of really vigorous wrestling.
