SHOOTING IN LEAGUE ASSEMBLY
JEWISH PHOTOGRAPHER DIES IN HOSPITAL GENEVA, July 3. Stefan Lux, the press photographer of Prague, who shot himself with a revolver during a sitting of the league assembly, was taken to the Geneva Hospital, where the chief surgeon decided that an operation might save his life, but he died at 8.30 to-night. An X-ray examination revealed that there were two bullets in his chest One had been there since the time of the war. He was a well-known German Jewish writer. It is believed that hia object was to focus world atten-
tion on the plight of his “Jewish brothers” in Germany. During a moment of consciousness Lux declaied that he regretted nothing except leaving his wife and son.
The Mexican delegates informed the president (M. Paul van Zeeland) that they would not participate further in the proceedings Concerning Italy and Abyssinia, and that they were abstaining from voting. “We do not agree with the handling of the dispute,” they said, “but we do not wish to obstruct the work of the assembly.’*
