WEDDING

ROBERTS —CARSON On Saturday afternoon at Holy Trinity Church, Lyttelton, the wedding was celebrated of Phyllis Venetta, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Carson (Dublin street) to Richard William, only son of Mr and Mrs R- T - c - Rob " erts, “Aorangi,” Cashmere Hills. Tbs Rev. E. Hanna performed the ceremony. and the organist was Mr S. B l^ or Carson escorted his daughter, who wore a frock of ivory witchcraft lace, patterned in rose design, the draped neckline of the close-fitting bodice being finished with a posy of orange blossom. The long sleeves were finished with rolled hems of the satin, and the fully flared skirt formed a long train at the back. Her beau--tiful veil of tulle was held m place by a halo of orange blossom mounted on tulle, and she carried a trailing bouquet of white azaleas and abutilons^ The bridesmaids were Miss Nona L. Carson and Miss Mary E. Roberts. Their frocks of marimba rust French velvet were cut on simple lines and made with oval necklines and full bell sleeves trimmed with clusters of green and gold jewelled ornaments, inset godets gave fullness to the skirts which formed slight trains. Their halo hats were of gold ruched taffeta, and in their trailing bouquets, daffodils were arranged with lemon and bronze abutilons. Mr Stafford Furby and Mr Stanley Carson attended the bridegroom, and Messrs Norman Tuck and E. Adams acted as ushers. After the ceremony, the guests were entertained at a reception held at the Lyttelton Fire Station. Mrs Carson wore a frock of marine blue corded georgette relieved at the neckline with faggotting and beige trimmings. Her hat toned with her frock, and her bouquet was composed of tangerine and lemon Iceland poppies and freesias. A wineberry frock of heavy needlerun lace was worn by the bridegroom’s mother. The sleeves and yoke of the frock were lined with blush pink georgette. and a diamante clasp gave a finishing touch to the neckline. Her hat was of felt to tone, and she carried cyclamen and pink carnations. Mrs T. Candy, the bridegroom’s grandmother, wore a black crepe de chine frock relieved with touches of white, and a hat to match. Her posy was of primroses and violets. For travelling, the bride wore a fawn tweed suit trimmed with brown taffeta, a nigger-brown coat with a musquash fur collar and a brown velour hat to match. Mr and Mrs E. W. Roberts will make their home at Cashmere Hills. ASHBURTON POINT-TO POINT MANY VISITORS PRESENT A record crowd attended the Ashburton branch of the Christchurch Hunt Club’s point-to-point meeting, held on the properties of Messrs A. 'Amos and J.* Bonifant, at Wakanui, on Saturday. At the course, which has a ( natural terraced grandstand, hunting enthusiasts from all parts- of the province enjoyed a good day’s Sport.
