RELATIVES CLAIM DAMAGES
CAR ACCIDENTS IN NEW SOUTH WALES

The Erina Shire Council, in the person of its administrator (Mr B. C. Hughes), has been served, on be* half of the relatives of the victims of the Davistown car tragedy, with notices of action claiming a total of £14,000 in compensation by reason of alleged negligence in failing to place a warning sign or to protect the end of the road which ends at the wharf at Davistown. The council will defend the action. [Six adults were drowned early on the morning of March 29 last, at thp seaside resort of Davistown, near Woy Woy, New South Wales, when two new sedan cars containing eight persons ran off the end of a jetty and plunged into what is known as Brisbane Water. Two men smashed a car window and managed to escape. Six persons were trapped and perished. They were: Mr David Missingham and his wife. Miss Dolly Curtain (a friend of the Missinghams), Mr George Boulton, of Camperdown. Mrs Aitcheson, of Manly, and Mr Hunter Youll. of Mossman.l
