FAMOUS TENOR ON WAY TO AUSTRALIA
MR RICHARD CROOKS VISITS AUCKLAND (PR1689 ASSOCIATION TZLEGEAM.I AUCKLAND, June 12. Mr Richard Crooks, the leading tenor in the New York Metropolitan Opera Company, is travelling to Australia by the Mariposa with ,his wife, son, and daughter, and Will return to New Zealand later. Mr Crooks said that the Metropolitan Opera had just had the most successful season In Its history, largely due to the broadcasting of the leadin'? artists in sponsored programmes. For 10 broadcast performances of operas the company received 190,000 dollars.
