THE TRAMWAYS
TO THE EOITOE OF THE PRES*. Sir, —Whilst on my way into your city yesterday I saw a large body of men manfully taking their morning tea—employees of the Tramway Board who are engaged in relaying the tramway tracks through the park. And this thought passed through my mind. Instead of relaying that track as the Tramway Board is doing, it would be far more progressive if the board were to spend the money in putting lowpressure pneumatic tyres upon the present tram-cars and scrap the iron wheels and tracks altogether. It is only a waste of money to keep repairing those old tracks. Then we might have a decent road instead of this continual upset. To-day all progressive farmers are putting low-presure pneumatic tyres upon their farm tractors to advantage. —Yours, etc,, T. E. PEARSON. Hororata, June 11, 1936.
