ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

MANY CHANGES IN COUNCIL k Of the 20 members elected to the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society yesterday nine were not members of the last council. Among thbse who lost their seats are two former presidents, Messrs F. Steans and C. F. Champion. The membership 1 of the society is about 1200, and 539 votes were cast. The results of the election, which closed at 1 p.m. yesterday, were completed at 7.50. The secretary of the sqciety, Mr C. W. Hervey, acted as returning officer, and Messrs C. A. Cooper and R. R.
