ANNIVERSARY OF MR SEDDON’S DEATH
PRIME MINISTER’S TRIBUTE (FBESS ASSOCIATION TELSGBAM.) WELLINGTON. June 10. This morning, on the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Richard John Seddon, the members of his family placed a wreath on the statue la the grounds of Parliament Buildings, and many admirers paid silent tribute during the day. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, issued a statement paying tribute to a great statesman wnose memory would always serve, he said, as an inspiration to New Zealand. It was the Government’s aim, not merely to carry on where Mr Seddon left off, but to carry his humanitarian and economic achievements to still further heights. He was confident that New Zealand was now entering a similar period of economic and social progress.
