EVEREST EXPEDITION
Attempt Abandoned Mr Hugh Ruttledge, leader of the British Everest expedition, sent to Britain a message which said that the party would abandon the attempt to climb Mount Everest this year. Wyn Harris and Eric Shipton, two members of the expedition, narrowly escaped with their lives while they were making a daring survey climb.
