YOUNG MAN KILLED WHEEL OF DRAY PASSES OVER HEAD

[THE PRESS Special Service.] TEMUKA, June 9 V Injuries from whidh he died in 'a few minutes were received by Robert Henrich Oed, aged 21 years, a farm employee, at Sutherlands, yesterday afternoon. Oed, who worked on his father’s farm, had called at the Sutherlands railway station, and was walking back alongside a spring dray when the horse bolted. He followed It on foot as it careered over the railway line, and tried to check it. He slipped, however, and the right wheel of the dray passed over his head. Oed received a fractured skull and died before medical aid could be brought. FATAL FALL FROM BUILDING (FBXSS association telxobau.) WELLINGTON, June 9. W. Gardiner, of 15 Cleveland street Brooklyn, died in hospital to-day following injuries from a fall at the new railway station yesterday, where he was supervising work in the capacity of chief clerk of works.

MAN FATALLY INJURED 'PENSS ASSOCIATION TNLEGEAIt.) AUCKLAND, June 9. Fatal injuries were suffered by John Albert McLeod, 55, a married man, of Mount Albert, when he was struck by a piece of glass at -the workshops of D.S.C. and Cousins, Ltd., motorbody builders, this afternoon. McLeod was lying beneath a motor-bus when a glass panel above him was broken, and a jagged splinter of glass struck him in the neck, severing an artery. Although the bleeding was stopped, McLeod failed to rally, and died in hospital.

TEMUKA, June 9.

While walking along High street, Temuka. about 7.15 p.m. yesterday, George Martin was struck by a motorcycle ridden by William Friend, of Hilton. He received a severe wound in the forehead and abrasions. Friend also received bruises. Martin was taken to the Timaru Hospital, but his condition last night Was not serious.
