(FBOM OUR OWN COHBBBPOHDENT.) LONDON, May 16. Mrs E. M. Lambe (Hastings) is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs E. M. Leaning, at Clacton, Essex. Miss A. N. Blackett, chief librarian, Wanganui, is in Newcastle, her native city. It is likely that she will be able to attend the English librarians' conference at Margate in June. At the recent dramatic art exhibition of the London School of Dramatic Art, Miss G. Sterling, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. H. Sterling (Wellington), secured second prize and received a certificate. For this examination there were 300 entrants. Miss Edith A. Moore (Wanganui) intends to motor through the dales of Yorkshire and in the English lake district, and possibly later to tour through Scotland. At present she is staying with her mother in Bradford. It was to see her mother that she •came to England. Miss Mabel E. Marshall and Miss Annie E. Wheeler (Wellington), who both hold the rank of major in the Salvation Army, are travelling on a year's, furlough, and during this time they will take every opportunity of seeing the work of their organisation, especially in England. Mrs A. E. Austin and Miss D. Austin (Albury) travelled by the Oronsay. and since their arrival at the beginning of the month have been visiting places of interest in London. At the end of May they will join the New Zealand farmers' party and tour the Continent. Later on they will tour in Scotland and Ireland. Mrs A. M. Dell (Auckland) is spending a few weeks in London before starting on a motor tour of England, Scotland, and Wales, which will occupy «bout six weeks. Mrs F. A. Hornibrook left for New Zealand by the Mataroa this week on a visit to New Zealand. She left the Dominion in 1915, and this will be her first return visit. Mrs Turner-WilHams (Havelock North) is in England on a visit to her relatives after an absence in New Zealand of 17 years. She expects to be here for about six months. At preseht she is staying with her sister, Miss Freda Turner, and in June she will go to her brother in Herefordshire. This evening, at the Caledonian Hall, the select old-time dance will be held. The last heat of the two guinea "Minnie" will take place and will consist of four lucky-spots and four miniature montes. The final will be decided at 10.30 p.m. The Evans-Camp-bell band of six professional players will be in attendance, arid the gallery will be open for spectators.
PARTY AT BLENHEIM To honour Mrs L,‘A. Sprosen, who will leave Blenheim shortly to live in Christchurch, the Misses Avery and T. G. Fltzell were hostesses at an afternoon tea party. On arrival, the guest of honour was presented with a bouquet of flowersSongs were sung by Mrs W. K. Gill, accompanied by Mrs A. M. R. Mills. A competition was won by Mrs Gill and Mrs Sprosen.
