WELLINGTON CENTENARY EXHIBITION
CONFERENCE CALLED BY GOVERNMENT (HUM AMOCUTIO* TXUW&AH.) WELLINGTON. May 20. “Further progress in preparation for the centenary exhibition project in Wellington has been delayed pending a conference being called by the Government,” said the Mayor (Mr T. C. A. Hislop) to-day. “When this conference takes place, I anticipate hearing what the policy of the Government in the matter is to be, and the exact nature and extent of the Government support to the project “It will not be possible for us to do anything further until that conference takes place,” he said, “Naturally, T am anxious that it should take place as soon as possible, because the tiro* left for the necessary preparations is
by no means too long. I understand that extensive work in preparation for the conference has been none by the Department of Internal Affairs, so that matters should be well advanced when the conference takes place. As soon, as this conference is concluded. I hope we shall be able to move forward energetically in preparing for the exhibition.”
