MEETING OF NEW BRIGHTON SUB-BRANCH Mrs W. Flavel presided at the monthly meeting of the New Brighton branch of the Plunket Society. Also present were: The Mayoress of New Brighton (Mrr. E. L. Smith), Mesdames G, Bundy, E. tG. Hill, F. Blewitt, F. J. Delamain, T. Bisman, and G. E. Bielby. Mrs Bielby reported that the sub-branch had benefited by £5 10s from the picture benefit held at the New Princess Theatre, on April 30. It was arranged to hold the annual meeting in the Pier Hall on May 28. The monthly report of the nurse (Miss E. M. Rose) gave the following figures—Visits to homes, seven (all new cases); visits to rcysms 202, adults 100, babies 102. Total number of new cases, seven. The report said that colds were very prevalent, out otherwise the progress of all babies was satisfactory. COMING-OF-AGE DANCE On the occasion of the coming-of-age of their eldest son David, Mr and Mrs Gilbert Brown entertained a large number of friends at an evening social held in the Masonic Hall, Sydenham. The evening passed pleasantly A ip games Eftid Hancing, and items were giyen by . Miss J. Rodda, Miss N. am} Mr A. Jackson. The supper tables were decorated for the occasion, ? and the toasts were proposed by Mr P. M. Velvin, and Mr A. Brown. Winners .of the competitions were Miss June Newberry, Mr and Mrs R. A. Weston, and Miss Ray Holmes and Mr C. Moulin. , Miss Dorothy Moore’s Orchestra played music for the dancing, and Mr R. A. Milne was master of ceremonies. The popular Tuesday old-time dance will be held evening, at the Latimer Hall, late Choral Hall. Jackson’s band will supply the music, and a Ladbrooks competition and Monte Carlo dances will de decided. Free cloak checks and free parking for cycles will be provided. A good sit-down supper will also be provided.
