DIS/UTE WITH LABOUR

EXECUTIVE CONTROL OF ORGANISATION IN NEW SOI TH WALES (Received May 26, 12.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 25. Mr J. S. Garden won the second round of his fight with the State Labour Executive in a decisiye manner. The electoral council in his constituency—Cook—passed a vote of confidence in him by 45 votes to five, and also decided to convene a special conference of metropolitan electorate dbuncils on June 7. preparatory to demanding a special conference of Labour delegates from the whole state in order to discuss Mr Garden’s case and other matters affecting the Labour movement in New South Wales. It is now considered that the fight for control of the Labour organisation has begun in real earnest. Party managers take a serious view of the situation. IMr Garden, who is a member of the Federal Parliament, was expelled I'rcm the Labour party at a meeting of the New South Wales State Executive of the Australian Labour party last week. The executive held that Mr Carden had failed, to substantiate his charges against the president and the organising secretary, and that tha charges were disruptive and likely to impair the unity of the party.!
