Mrs P. Jennings, formerly of Southland, who will soon make her home in North Canterbury, is at S resent visiting her grandfather, Mr [eorge Harper, Cashel street west.
Miss Dorothy Moore (Sumner) will leave at the end of May for a trip to England. During her absence, her sister, Mrs Philip Keddell, will stay with her parents, Mr and Mrs Walter Moore, Sumner. Mrs D. E. Wood (Rugby street) will leave on Saturday night for Wellington to attend the wedding of her nephew. Mr and Mrs Charles Buchanan (Naseby street) will leave on Saturday for a visit to Wellington.
Mr and Mrs Andrew Burns, Montreal street, will leave for England by the Ormonde, sailing from Sydney on May 20. They will return to Christchurch about the beginning of November.
Miss Dorothy Berggren (Webb street) will leave to-night for Wellington to join the Wanganella for Sydney. From there she will go to Britain and later to Sweden. Her sister, Miss lima Berggren, will accompany her to Sydney. Mr and Mrs Hanmer Atkinson, Miss Sheila Atkinson, and Mr D. Atkinson ("Woodbank," Hanmer Springs), Mrs Gladstone Robinson, (Timaru), and Miss Nancy Teschemaker (Blenheim) are recent. arrivals at Warwick House.
Sir James and Lady Hutchison (Dunedin) are the guests of Dr. and Mrs Hutchison, Lower Hutt. Mrs G. B. Jardine, late of Greytown, North Island, is at present visiting Cheviot, and is'the guest of Mrs George Brown, Dumbarton.
Mr and Mrs J. F. Fraser have returned to Auckland after spending some weeks with Mr and Mrs J. A. Mikkelson, Durham street. Mr and Mrs George Carver (Wanganui), who came to Canterbury for the Latham-Montgomery wedding, will leave to-morrow for a visit to the West Coast.
Mrs C. J. Ronaldson (Papanui road) is visiting Mrs A. Grant, Timaru.
Miss Joan Fulton is at present the guest of Mrs Edgar Stead, "Ham," Riccarton. Mrs R. Beresford Poore (May's road) has returned from a holiday spent in Auckland, where she was the guest of her sister, Mrs J. G. Wilson, Mount Eden. Miss Audrey Haley ("Okururu,'* Gough's Bay, Akaroa) left on Monday to take up a position on the staff of the Kaikoura Hospital. Mrs G. W. Thomas and her daughter, Miss C. Thomas, of Karori, Wellington, and formerly of Akaroa, have been the guests of Mrs A. G. Shuttleworth, "Blythcliff," Akaroa. .
Mrs Mabin Smith, and Mr and Mrs Bennetts, of Wyndham, Southland, are visiting Mr and Mrs C. A. Young, Balguerie street, Akaroa.
Mr and Mrs G. Le Lievre, Akaroa, have returned from a visit to the West Coast.
Mrs Wreaks (Christchurch) is visiting Akaroa and is a guest at "The Glen," Sunshine Bay. Mr and Mrs W. Hoffman, who have been in charge of "Sea-View" boardinghouse, Benoit street, Akaroa, for a number of years, will leave to-day for Te Kuiti, North Island, where they will make their home. Mr and Mrs A. M. Moore are leaving Akaroa for their new home at Ellesmere, where they have bought a farm. The engagement is announced of Anna Mary (Nan), elder daughter of Captain and Mrs John Brindle, Northcote, Auckland, and Geoffrey Grey, elder son of Mr and Mrs C. W. Muir, Gisborne, formerly of Christchurch.
