AUCKLAND CRIMINAL SESSIONS

(FBXSa IBBOCIA.TIOM TBLBGEAM.) AUCKLAND, May 5, "I am happy to say that the number of bills for consideration is relatively small," said Mr Justice Fair, addressing the grand jury at the opening of the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court this morning. "Unfortunately," said his Honour, "six out of the 12 cases on the calendar related to charges of sexual offences. There were also one charge of theft, one of theft from the person, one of assault causing bodily harm, one of negligent driving causing death, one of burglary, and finally a case of plural voting. A curious feature of the charge of assault causing bodily harm was that a man whose neck had been broken and who had ' recovered was charged with assaulting another man and breaking his jaw."
