BUSINESS OF THE HOUSE

LABOUR LEGISLATION FLAN FOR PROMOTING EMPLOYMENT CJLABANTEED PRICES BILL NEXT WEEK Wrom Our Parliamentary Reporter.? WELLINGTON, April 15. Pariiament will quickly get down to serious business when the members resume to-morrow after the short Easter recess. Consideration vi major items on the Government's legislative programme will be resumed immediately, and if progress is up to expectations the House may l>e considering the Guaranteed Prices Bill before the end of next week.

The Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) in an interview to-night said that when the House began its itrious business to-morrow it would deal with two bills introduced by the Minister for Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstriig) before the Easter adjournment—the Labour Department Amendment Bill and the Employment Promotion Bill. "Urgency, of course, will not be taken for those bills," said the Prime Minister, "but it is not intended to dwell on them too long. We hope 1<» have both put through the House before the end of next week so that we may be in a position to introduce the Guaranteed Prices Bill. There again we have no intention to drive the House, and urgency for that important measure will not be asked, but we expect to see good progress made on it. If such progress is not secured it may be necessary, of course, to speed things up.

"As far as we can see in the meantime ther« will be no necessity *.t) have late sittings, and if reasonable progress is made on the bills now before Parliament the House should revert to rising at 10.30 each night for a week or two. The Government is not out to. create record*, and will be satisfied to keep th? business of Parliament going icrward in a common-sense way." A Government Party caucus will be held to-morrow morning. The Guaranteed Prices Bill will probably be discussed.
