OPEN SEA SWIM AT NEW PLYMOUTH WATER TOO COLD FOR MOST OF FIELD

(rusi AJBOCUTIOV TSUWSAM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 29. Miss Winnie Richardson won the Flannagan Cup open sea swim of two and a half miles from a field of 16 swimmers in cold windswept water. Only four of the field finished. Miss Richardson, off the limit (smin),

maintained/the lead all the way and finished four minutes ahead of D. Gayton, last year’s winner, Who made the fastest time of 84min 38sec, although he repeatedly suffered cramp, Mirs L. Wickham, of Stratford, was thirci, and A. Pettigrew, of Stratford, was the only other swimmer to finish.
