CYCLIST KILLED AT DARGAVILLE

THROWN HEAVILY IN COLLISION

(TUBS ASSOCIATION TBLKOSAU.) DARGAVILLE. March 28. A collision occurred at 12.45 a.m. to-day between a cycle ridden by Mr Fred Clarke, aged 23 years, and a taxi, driven by Mr H. Searle, on the Turiwiri road. The car was coming to Dargaville and the cycle was going in the opposite direction. Mr Clarke was thrown heavily from his machine and sustained severe injuries. After he re- r ceived medical attention he was taken to the Tekopuru Hospital in an unconscious condition, and died at 5.45 ajn.

Mr Clarke was a native of Ireland and was employed by Mr T. H. Spence, of Turiwiri, for the last six months.

FARM LABOURER KILLED

STRUCK BY OVER-TAKING MOTOR-CAR

PALMERSTON NORTH, March 29. Albert John Talbot Edie, aged 22, a farm labourer, was killed near Himatangi on Saturday night, when an overtaking motor-car, driven by V. M. Greer, ran Into him as he was cycling along the road. His relatives live at Papanui, Christchurch.
