♦ .MOTOR CYCLE ROAD RACE AT CUST TWO ENTRIES FROM BLENHEIM <BPICUL TO THB mil.) BLENHEIM, March 29. Two Blenheim riders have entered for the motor-cycle road race which is being organised by the Canterbury - Auto Cycle Club and is to be held on Easter Monday at Gust, about 30 miles from Christchurch. The race will be known as the New Zealand Grand Prix. The course will be of 25 laps - of about six miles each, a total distance of 152 miles over good metal roads. The two Blenheim riders are Charlie Allen, and Fred Smith. Both these riders have put up some splendid performances of late and are expected to do well. Agricultural and Pastoral Association At the monthly meeting of the Marlborough Agricultural and Pastoral Association, over which Mr H. .- v Thomson presided, a motion of pathy with Mr S. T. Richmond ajjd family in the death of his father, i Mr F. H. Richmond, was carried. \ \ The Royal Society wrote asking for information about the association’s next show. It was decided that October 20 and 21 would be the most suitable dates. The society will be Inr formed accordingly. It was decided to call tenders, for the lease of the association’s property at Grovetown for five years. Golf Club Meeting The Blenheim Golf Club has decided to hold opening day oh Saturday, April.. 4. At a committee meeting a report 1 * was received from the green commit-j- >' tee that the course would, be ready for, -■ play on that date. It was decided to support the pro- 1 posed scheme for the amalgamation of sports bodies for ground maintenance,... The Mayor (Mr J. Stevenson), the . club’s patron, was invited to open the ■; club’s season. A thirty-six hole stroke competition was arranged for Easter Monday. The secretary was instructed to proceed with the incorporation of the club. Levy on Wool Correspondence which dealt with’ wool research and publicity was re- J ceived from the New Zealand Sheep . Owners’ and Wool Growers’ Associa-, .7?-, tion at a meeting of the Marlborough Sheep Owners’ Union. It was explained ‘ that there was a proposal for a wool -ilindustry and research bill for provide A ing, finance to 'Compete' against artificial fabrics. Members were against any scheme which would devote any funds for wool research but were in ■ favour of a propaganda scheme. • It was decided that the federation -Ssbe informed that the union was in ’i favour of the money being, spent for - V; -. publicity only. Personal Mrs A. Hood, of the Blenheim branch >* of the Plunket was elected a member to fill a.vacancy on the minion Council caused by the death of V - Miss Atkinson, of. Nelson.
