THE PICNIC
Ernest and Peter were very existed. Lady Gay had said she was K‘ ig to take them for a picnic. At the day came, and Peter helped Lady Gay pack the lunch. They took apples and pears and sandwiches to eat. Lady Gay also took some books to read. . They ..ent to Waikuku, and Ernest saw some slides, while Peter .saw some swings, and on these they spent most of their time. When they were having their lunch. Lady Gay suddenly said: “Oh dearl something always goes wrong. I have left my knife at home? Ernest and* Peter did not like eating apples andpeaw unless they were peeled. Oh, well, said Lady Gay, “I suppose I shall have to borrow someone wises knile. jtt will go," said Ernest, boy? said Lady Gay. fV until he came to X borrow your
“Yes, certainly,” was the kind reply. Ernest took it to Lady Gay, who said "Thank you very much.” She peeled the fruit, and Ernest returned the knife. They played games for the rest of the day, and. they were all very tired when they got home.
