MR BALDWIN’S SALARY

# - ANNUAL DEFICIT OF £3OOO (Received March 27, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 26. The Sun-Herald News Service says the British Prime Minister’s f alary of £SOOO involves an annual loss estimated at £ 3000 after meeting State, social, and personal" expenses. This emerged after a debate on a private member’s motion which the House of Commons carried by 150 votes to 56, urging the removal of anomalies in Ministerial salaries. The House agreed that the Prime Minister, instead of getting a lower salary than law officers, should receive at least £BOOO, members of Cabinet £SOOO, and junior Ministers £2OOO. It is suggested that the Lord Chancellor’s salary of £IO,OOO should be reduced to £BOOO. The rectification would increase the salaries bill by £26,000 to £IIB,OOO.
