GOITRE
TO TH* IDITOB OF TH* PB*SS. Sir,—l am afraid I cannot answer “Subscriber’s” question about the strained relations between the Medical School and the Home Science Department, but friction there is bound to be Many years ago the students of the Edinburgh University asked for a course of dietetics, but it was flatly refused, as the result would be _to knock the foundation out of medicine. There is no workers’ union that cracks the whip so much as the British Medical Association does over its members. A few months ago, an article on health was written by a man with the same name as one of our local doctors. Needless to say, I was amazed to see an article written by a British Medical Association doctor. However, I was due for disappointment, as a day later a disclaimer on haying written this article was published in the paper by the doctor. I am afraid people are going to be disappointed if they imagine there is a short cut to the cure and prevention of goitre. It is’purely the outcome of faulty elimination, as most diseases are.—Yours, etc.. CURED. March 14, 1936.
