ALSATIAN DOGS
——♦ . REGARDED AS DANGEROUS BY MAGISTRATE (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELSSGBAM.) j DUNEDIN, March 13. I "Alsatian dogs are such big brutes, and, unfortunately, of.such a dangerous type that I fail to see the sense of keeping them in a town at all," commented :•■ Mr H. W. r Bundle* 5.. M., in the 1- Magistrate's Court to-day during the hearing.of a case in which two young boys alleged that they had been bitten by a dog of this breed. 1 A charge of being the owner of a savage dog was preferred against Robert Spence, aged 79, a nightwatchman. After hearing evidence the magistrate said that while the bites were not serious, they might have been; and there was no evidence to show that the dog had reason to bite. If Alsatian dogs were to become at all dangerous it was difficult to say what they might do to children. An order was made that the dog should not be allowed outside the premises guarded by the. defendant unless on a leash, and also for the payment of witnesses' expenses (8s) and court costs (16s).
