Founders' Day Service _ Miss Cocks (Provincial "Commissioner) has sent the following message:—"l was very pleased indeed to see such a good turn put of rangers, guides, and brownies on Sunday. It was the first wet parade we have had, and the fact that such a large number attended showed me that you all .feel what an important eveht in our , guide life our Thinking Day service 1 is. I feel sure that all of you enjoyed the service, and felt encouraged and helped by- Mr ,McWilliam's address." Quest For Knowledge The mind of the ranger is keen and ready for use. Its alertness will be tried in that part Of the new tenderfoot' section in which she must deal with four- emergencies, out-of-doors or indoors. Lists of such emergencies can be drawn from the company and dealt with after much discussion and research. As a test, it must come unexpectedly, otherwise it is not a real emergency. Does this sudden opportunity to use hfer newly-acquired knowledge find, her ready and cool, or upset and flustered? There should be plenty of time for discussion in a ranger company both prepared and impromptu. There may be one or two girls who always lead the conversation, but that is where the wiso captain's, guiding hand can be shown. She should lead .the shy girl to express her opinions. They often prove to be better than those , quickly given without much thought. Individual and personal, problems common to all girls ,of ranger, age, as well as the' larger questions leading to intelligent citizenship should be'submitted. ... What is your company doing about citizenship?: What method: have; you {followed to gain: a knowledge of how the country is governed? Have you had a mook parliament, and put up a live issue for debate ahd vote? Have you discussed war and its causes; Seace and how w* may promote it?-** few Zealand Gulder. 1 j' ' "'"'."**"'■
