DEPUTATION FROM RESIDENTS

MEETING OF HEATHCOTE COUNTY COUNCIL

A deputation about the sweeping of drains in the Bexley road area occupied a considerable part of the open meeting of the Heathcote County Council last night. An undertaking that the council would investigate the subject of the complaint and do what it could in the best interests of the district was given by the chairman, Mr W. W. Scarff, who said that he thought some of the matters brought to the council's notice by the deputation had already been attended to. Some of the reports submitted by the engineer on the work done in the county for the month dealt with the repairing of damage caused to roads by the abnormally heavy rains of this and last month. It was stated that in Dyer's Pass road, as an instance, there had been a big slip, the complete Clearing of which would take some days. One stone brought down had weighed two tons. There were present at the meeting: Crs. W. W. Scarff (chairman), A. G. Williams, J. H. Moore, 1 J. F. Scott, F. W. Freeman, W. Kerr, and C. Flavell.
