♦ r GRADE CRICKET TO BE RESUMED
TENNIS MATCH AGAINST SOUTH CANTERBURY ;
Although once again there will be no athletic competitions to-day, there will be a wide offering of sport to watch. After a break of a week due to the last game against the touring Marylebone Cricket Club team, the grade cricket will be resumed. When the first day of the present round was played the matches were notable for the low scoring and the games are still in a very open state. ' South Canterbury will play Canterbury at tennis on the Wilding Park courts. The home team will put a strong field against South Canterbury, although A. R. Cant and H. A. Barnett will not be playing. C. Angas and H. Dymond will play in the top singles for the men, and as neither of the Misses Poole will be playing, Miss E: Rudkin and Miss M.. Wake will lead the women. The attraction for rowing enthusiasts will be pair-oar rowing on the Avon river in the final series of races for the' nea. -of-the-river title. Considerable interest is likely to be taken m the races, since there is a difference of only two points between three clubs. The points are: Canterbury 8, Avon 6, Union 6, Sumner-Redcliffs 0. The third and fourth rounds of the Christchurch Bowling Centre's champion of champions pairs and rinks competitions will be played,- the pairs on the Elmwood green and the rinks on the Spreydon and Shirley greens. The usual polo practice will be held at Hagley Park this afternoon at 2.30.
