The London colonial wool sales opened with a firm tone, and with good home and Continental competition. Crossbreds advanced 5 per cent., and merinos were in sellers* favour at an advance of from par to 5 per cent. A total of 9314 bales of wool was offered, including 6591 from New Zealand, and 8111 were sold. There was a moderate selection consisting chiefly of New Zealand crossbreds. Home competition was active, but Continental buyers were reserved pending political developments. Apart lrom rather frequent withdrawals of low greasy crossbreds, a good clearance was effected at generally par to 5 per cent, above the values at the last series.
