FLOWER SHOW AT MORVEN

fc. : LARGE ENTRIES IN ALL SECTIONS j • V PRAISE FOR' DAHLIAS AND GLADIOLI The' Morven Presbyterian Church held its annual horticultural show yesterday. The entries, totalling almost 700, showed a remarkable increase ’ on previous shows and the quality of the exhibits was good, : especially in view of the unfavourable weather recently experienced. A feature of the cut flowers section was the display of dahlias which, stated the Judge,. Mr A. White, were superior to those seen at Waimate and at was at Morven a more representative collection with a greater varlety of type. The sections for gladioli and also contained exceptionally fine biooms, while a pleasing feature of drummondil display was the Presence of some of the newest types of flower, showing that the exhibitors were taking, a keen interest in keeping up to dats. The decorative section attracted keen com Stlon and the Judge was set & difficult : in separating the entries. The show was opened Rev.*. Sutherland, who congratulated Abe ex hibltors and thanked the Judges for their services. He paid a tribute to the secretary. Mr E. J.
